Blush Portfolio

Blush Photography specializes in portfolios for models, actors and performers. Whether you are starting a portfolio or updating your images, our professional team can assist you in creating images that will suit you and help you to get work in the industry.

Before your appointment, we recommend thinking about what type of modelling you are wanting to do (eg. high fashion, commercial, swimwear, underwear, catwalk or promotional work etc) so we can assist you in styling your shoot accordingly and get the right images for your portfolio. If you are unsure, our experienced staff are happy to make some suggestions.

We recommend that you look through our website and portfolios, magazines or other publications to find examples of the types of images you would like to include in your folio and bring these with you on the day of your appointment. This will help us to style your shoot, as well as your makeup and hairstyles. It is important you bring with you the outfits, shoes and accessories you would like to be photographed in.

When you arrive for your portfolio shoot, our stylist will discuss with you the ideas, styles and looks you would like to achieve. Our experienced staff will also make suggestions as to what will suit you and what will photograph best.

We will apply a full professional makeup and provide hairstyling for  three separate photo shoots in our studios. Your photographer will take a range of images which you will see straight after your shoot.

For a portfolio, it is important to show your versatility. We recommend when choosing your images that you make sure you select a head shot, a 3/4 body shot, a full length shot as well as a variety of outfits, looks, poses and expressions. Our photographic consultant will assist you in this process. We recommend purchasing high resolution images on disc for portfolios. This will be more cost effective for you and will give you copyright of your images. Copyright allows you to reproduce your photographs in any format, upload to modeling websites and modeling directories, email to agencies and print for your portfolio.

Once you have collected your images, we recommend you obtain a portfolio case which holds 8x12 inch prints and plastic sleeves to put your photos in. Both can be found at stationary or art supply stores or you can have them custom made . If you are with an agency, you may want to check if this is something they will provide for you.

Are you new to the industry and not sure where to start? Blush can help you take that next step! We can provide you with a list of reputable agencies and online modeling directories when you collect your portfolio images. We can also make suggestions as to which ones you should try, depending on your look and the type of modeling work you want to do. See our Agency Advice and Referrals page.

Make sure that every modeling job you do which gets published (this is called a "tearsheet") you put in your portfolio. This will showcase the work you have done and looks very impressive.

It is also important to update your portfolio over time with new images, especially if your look changes or as fashions change...
