Photoshoot FAQ's

How much does it cost?
  • We charge $150 for an individual makeover and photoshoot at Blush and $200 for a couple or family (2 adults and up to 4 children under 12). This includes your styling consultation, professional makeup application, 3 different hairstyles/looks/outfit changes, 3 separate photo shoots in our studios and instant viewing of your images. Please note that we will happily match any other sitting fee quoted by another studio. Session fees.
  • At Blush there is no minimum order you need to place and no obligation to purchase. Images are available to buy high resolution on disc or as prints and can be puchased individually or most of our clients choose a custom made package to suit their budget. Individual prints start at $90 for a 5x7 inch print and packages start at $870. For a comprehensive overview on our prices please refer to our photography pricelist.

Can I get my Images on Disk?

  • Most of our clients now choose high resolution images on disk. Blush provides you with copyright of high resolution images purchased on disk to allow you to reproduce your photos as many time as you like in any size or format, for any purpose. If you are requiring more than one copy of any image or if you are wanting to use your photographs for a portfolio or business purposes we recommend this to be the best and most economical option. Images on disk are $175 each including retouching to your personal preference/ requirements, editing and copyright. Customized packages are also available for extra value.  

Do I bring my own clothes?

  • While we do have a wardrobe of props, jackets, clothing and accessories which you are welcome to use in your shoot at no additional charge, we do recommend that to personalise your shoot that you bring your own clothing and accessories also. We will do three different photoshoots for you and we suggest you try to make each look as diverse as possible. You may also want to consider props such as musical instruments, hats and sporting gear. We recommend you pack a bag full of anything you think is a remote possibility and your stylist will work with you on the day to create three different styles for you. We LOVE to be creative and welcome your ideas and suggestions.

Some suggestions:  

  • Girls: evening dresses, lingerie, casual jeans and tops, bathers, anything with unusual textures, hats, jackets, boyfriend/ partners sport or work uniform, hair pieces, false eyelashes, teddy bears, dressup outfits, musical instruments, jewellery, shoes, accessories or anything you love or feel good in.
  • Guys: uniforms, suits ties, jeans, tshirts, underwear, sunglasses, hats, jackets, sports props, sport or gym wear.

Do you do Portfolios?

  • Blush photography specializes in portfolios for models, actors, singers, dancers, musicians or anyone needing promotional images. For a portfolio it is important to how your versatility. We recommend when choosing your images that you make sure you select a head shot, a 3/4 body shot, a full length shot plus a variety of outfits, looks, poses and expressions. Our photographic consultant will assist you in this process. We recommend purchasing high resolution images on disc for portfolios. Images start at $175 per image and customised portfolio packages are available. Getting your images on disc will be more cost effective for you and will give you copyright of your images allowing you to reproduce them in any format, upload to modeling websites, email to agencies and print for your portfolio. How long do I need to allow for my shoot?

  • Please allow 3 hours for your professional photography appointment which will include your styling consultation, hair and makeup for three photography shoots in our studios and time to view and select your images.

I don't photograph well, can you make me look good?

  • Everyone thinks that they are not photogenic and we are asked this EVERY day! Our team of professional makeup artists and stylists will have you looking your very best. Our photographers are experts at posing and lighting and will capture your best angles. You are in safe hands with our friendly talented team! Our clients are contantly amazed by the results.

Can I bring a partner?

  • Absolutely! your partner is welcome to be a part of your photoshoot for a small additional fee. You can include your partner in as many of your looks as you like and do a mix of both together shots and individual shots, or just together shots if you prefer.

Can I bring my child/children?

  • A lot of our clients use their makeover and photo shoot as a bit of pampering "me time" and arrange a babysitter but you are welcome to bring your children if you wish. As we are not set up to babysit, you will be required to bring someone with you to watch small children while you are in hair and makeup or having your photos taken. If you would like your children to be in the shoot, please make sure you let your booking consultant know when making your appointment. Children under 12 years are free when being photographed with a parent or guardian. As small children can be unpredictable, we recommend booking your appointment last in the day or on a Sunday so we can allow extra time if required.  

Can you offer any tips on how to prepare for my shoot?

  • You may want to consider getting your nails done, have a spray tan or pay attention to any waxing needs, especially if you want to do nude or lingerie photography. The best way to arrive to your shoot is with clean dry hair and no makeup.
  • To look your absolute best for your photo shoot you may also consider having teeth whitening, hair extensions or eye lash extensions (or all of the above) done. Do I get to see my photos on the day?

  • ABSOLUTELY! After your photo shoot you will be able to view, choose and order your images with the assistance of our photographic consultants who will be able to tailor a package to suit your needs.

What are your Packages?

  • What we find is that it is difficult to know how many photos you will want until you have actually seen your images. Your photographic consultant will tailor make a package to suit you on the day. We have both print and digital packages which include a low resolution preview disc (slide show) of your entire shoot and an optional set of wallets. What are your payment options?

  • Blush accepts Visa, Mastercard, Cash, Eftpos, Money orders and Bank Cheque.
  • We require a minimum 50% deposit on the day of your order with the balance payable upon collection. Incentives are available for full payment upfront.
  • Please note that personal cheques are accepted for deposits but not on collection of your order.

How long does it take to get my images?

  • Please allow 3-4 weeks for the editing and retouching process. If you require your images sooner, please notify your booking consultant when you make your booking and your photographic consultant at the time of placing your order.

Can my images be sent to me?

  • If you require your images to be posted we can package and send them via registered mail for a $20 postage and handling fee. Please note that while all care is taken on our end and we are not responsible for your order once it has left our premises.

Can my photos be retouched?

  • Retouching is something that comes down to personal preference. All images ordered as enlargements or high resolution images on disc include our retouching services free of charge. Whether you wish to be un retouched, have a bit of a touch up to remove a few smile lines or be highly retouched to magazine perfection is completely up to you. Your photographic consultant will discuss this with you when you place your order. Please note that we do not retouch wallet prints or images on the preview disc. 

Do you offer framing?

  • Blush offers a comprehensive range of framing services at very competitive rates. Framing can be ordered at the time of ordering your images or after your images have been collected. Ask about our other innovative display and packaging options. Please allow approximately one extra week for framing.

What days are you open?

  • Blush is open Tuesday to Sunday with evening appointments available Thursdays and Fridays. To see our detailed hours of trade please see our Studio opening hours.

    Where is the best place to park?

  • When visiting our South Yarra Photography studios Melbourne, $5 parking is available in the Como Centre car park for Blush clients. Entry is from Chapel Street next to the Como Hotel or from River Street (off Toorak Road) Please ensure you collect your discounted parking card from our staff before you leave.
  • Parking in the street in South Yarra is only for a maximum of 2 hrs on weekdays and most sessions are around three hours.
  • We are only a short stroll from South Yarra Train station.

What if I need to change my appointment?

  • We understand sometimes things come up which are unavoidable. Please contact the studio to reschedule your appointment. If you are unable to make your appointment we require at least 48 hrs notice. Cancellation or non attendance at an appointment will result in your holding deposit being forfeited.
